What you need to download:

There are three programs to download. For WordTalk to function, you need one of the first two. The third is optional, but will allow WordTalk to start automatically every time Microsoft Word is run.

Quick Instructions:

Download and run WordTalk.msi to install Wordtalk. If you think you already have SAPI 5 voices on your computer, you can download the much smaller WordTalk.exe and run this instead (This version does not include the voice files - See ‘A note about voices’ below). See the documentation to use this with Microsoft Word. Or...

Download and run WTConfigure.exe to install WTConfigure. By default it will offer to extract the files required to a temporary directory which is normally fine - click extract, and when the extraction has completed, Click OK to run the Setup program. (On some older systems you may be required to reboot your machine to complete the installation). Now see the documentation about using this program to integrate WordTalk with Microsoft Word.
A Note about Voices

WordTalk requires a computer with SAPI 5 voices installed. The large download comes with 3 SAPI 5 voices for you to try out. If you have windows XP, you probably already have 1 SAPI 5 voice on your system. If you are not sure whether or not your computer has SAPI 5 voices, then we recommend you download WordTalk.msi (i.e. WordTalk with voices)

If you have question concerning the installation refer to this HTM Page

For people with reading and writing difficulties, having text reinforced by hearing it read aloud can be very useful. Specialised programs have existed to do this for a long time, and in many cases are extremely helpful and highly appropriate and should be seriously considered, perhaps in consultation with professional advice where necessary.
